The majority of Atlanta’s automated meter reading (AMR) water meters are accurately transmitting water usage data from the meter to the handheld or mobile data collector, but in around one quarter of the meters the antennas are not optimally placed in the meter head and in just over 13 percent the antennas are not correctly oriented.

Cemig secures USTDA support for smart grid development
Brazilian utility Cemig has secured a grant of $710,000 from the U.S. Trade and Development Agency (USTDA) to fund a feasibility study for the implementation of a smart grid by the Belo Horizonte based company and its sister utility Light in Rio de Janeiro.

Bolivia’s YPFB receives gas meters and test benches from Itron
The Bolivian state-owned petroleum and gas company Yacimientos Petroliferos Fiscales Bolivianos (YPFB) has received 100,000 residential gas meters, 8,500 commercial meters and two test benches from Itron, the company has announced.
